Risk meters are a new experimental feature on the Waukesha Alerts Mugshot Browser. Risk determination is made through a combination of factors which includes the following in weighted order (top to bottom):
Severity/Type of Crime(s)
This category is the most heavily weighted in the risk calculation. It considers the charge classification if it is a felony (I through A) or misdemeanor (C through A). It also considers the type of crime such as a felony battery charge having a higher risk than a felony fraud charge.
Bail Amount
This category is the 2nd most heavily weighted in the risk calculation. It considers the type of bail set (Cash or Signature). It also considers the bail amount set in comparison to the overall seriousness of the charge(s).
Criminal History
This category has a moderate weight in the risk calculation. It considers the criminal history of the suspect. A longer criminal history with multiple separate criminal cases indicate a higher risk.
Residence Location
This category has the lowest weight in the risk calculation. It considers where the defendant currently resides. A defendant who lives near a school or park with sex crime charges, gun charges, etc, would be considered a higher risk than one who lives in a rural area with the same charges.
The risk meter is on a colored scale from 0 (lowest risk) to 12 (highest risk). This is an unofficial determination independently conducted on available data, this does not represent any determination made by the Waukesha County Courts.
